The ALPINESTARS TECH-AIR Tech-Air Off-Road System combines active airbag protection with an integrated Off-Road Protection Jacket for enhanced upper-body coverage during off-road and street riding. When inflated, the airbag provides protection across the chest and back, with coverage extending to the shoulders, neck, and collarbones. The jacket adds passive full back, limb, arm, and chest protection, along with enhanced roost protection against rocks, debris, and other trail obstacles.

Pre-loaded ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET Riding Modes make the system adaptable to different riding environments. Its self-contained electronic control unit uses three accelerometers and three gyroscopes to monitor riding conditions and support active airbag protection in dynamic off-road scenarios. Riders can navigate modes using the front LED Display or the Tech-Air App, while the system automatically activates when zipped up and deactivates when unzipped.

Dual gas inflators provide two separate airbag deployments, with one inflator used for each deployment. The airbag has an average inflation time of 52 milliseconds, depending on airbag size, and coverage includes the chest, back, shoulders, and neck. The system is FIM Cross Country Rally Regulations homologated for race use, and neck protection is provided by the airbag inflating around the neck in compliance with FIM regulations.

An integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of use when fully charged and takes approximately 4 hours to recharge. Charging for approximately 1 hour provides approximately 8 hours of riding use. The removable electronic control unit and airbag allow the Protection Jacket to be washed separately. A quick-release cover supports rapid gas inflator replacement by the user where permitted by local regulations, while the Shipping Mode switch helps disconnect the battery during transportation or extended periods of non-use.
