The Alpinestars Tech-Air Off-Road System combines active airbag protection with an integrated Off-Road Protection Jacket for enhanced upper-body coverage during off-road and street riding. When inflated, the airbag provides protection across the chest, back, shoulders, neck, and collarbones, while the jacket provides passive full back, limb, arm, and full chest protection with added roost protection against rocks, debris, and other trail obstacles.

Three selectable Riding Modes—ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET—support different riding environments. The fully self-contained system uses integrated accelerometers and gyroscopes in its Electronic Control Unit to monitor riding dynamics and deliver active airbag protection. Riders can navigate modes using the front LED Display or the Tech-Air App, while automatic activation occurs when the system is zipped closed.

Dual charge capability uses two gas inflators to provide two separate airbag deployments, with one inflator deploying during a crash scenario. The airbag has an average inflation time of 52 milliseconds, depending on airbag size. A removable ECU and airbag allow the Protection Jacket to be washed separately, and the quick-release cover supports gas inflator replacement by the user where permitted by local regulations.

The integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of use when fully charged and requires approximately 4 hours to recharge. Charging is handled through the USB-C port in the LED Display. The system includes a Shipping Mode switch on the ECU for transportation or extended periods without use. The Tech-Air Off-Road System is FIM Cross Country Rally Regulations homologated for race use.
