The Alpinestars Tech-Air Off-Road System combines active airbag protection with an integrated Off-Road Protection Jacket for enhanced upper-body coverage during off-road and street riding. When the airbag is inflated, it provides coverage across the chest, back, shoulders, neck, and collarbones. The jacket also includes passive full back and limb protection, integrated arm protection, and a passive full chest protector to help shield against rocks, debris, and other trail obstacles.

Built for varied riding conditions, the system includes ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET riding modes. Its electronic control unit uses three accelerometers, including one triaxial accelerometer, and three gyroscopes, including one triaxial gyroscope, to monitor riding dynamics. Riding modes can be selected using the front LED display or the Tech-Air App. The system is FIM Cross Country Rally Regulations homologated for race use and features an average airbag inflation time of 52 milliseconds, depending on airbag size.

Dual gas inflators provide two separate airbag deployments, with one inflator used to inflate the complete system during a crash. A quick-release cover supports rapid gas inflator replacement by the user where permitted by local regulations. The integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of use when fully charged and takes approximately 4 hours to recharge; approximately 1 hour of charging provides about 8 hours of riding time. Charging is handled through the USB-C port integrated into the LED display.

The system turns on when zipped up and deactivates when unzipped. The electronic control unit and airbag are removable so the protection jacket can be washed separately. A Shipping Mode switch disconnects the battery during transportation or extended periods of non-use and is located on the ECU behind the removable electronic case on the back protector. The system is supplied with Shipping Mode activated and must be switched off before first use.
