The Alpinestars Tech-Air MX Airbag System is an autonomous airbag protection solution engineered for motocross and supercross riders. Built into a compact chest protector, the system provides upper-body protection for the shoulders, chest, and back when a crash situation is detected.

The system uses Alpinestars’ MX/MX Race crash detection algorithm, developed with extensive riding and crash data and tested in demanding professional racing environments. Upon detecting a crash, the airbag deploys with an average inflation time of 40 milliseconds, depending on airbag size. The default MX Mode is designed for off-road motocross tracks, while two customizable modes, MY RIDE 1 and MY RIDE 2, can be configured through the Tech-Air App using available MX Race, Enduro, and Rally riding modes.

The streamlined, low-profile system is constructed from breathable stretch mesh for ventilation, comfort, and freedom of movement. It can be worn over or under properly fitting apparel with sufficient room for airbag inflation. The integrated LED Display monitors system status and battery level, displays riding modes, and provides access to USB-C charging. A fully charged integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of riding time, with approximately four hours required for a full recharge.

Activation occurs when the left buckle is attached to the chest protector, while removing the buckle automatically deactivates the system. A single gas inflator provides one deployment, after which it must be replaced before reuse. The quick-release cover supports rapid inflator replacement by users where permitted by local regulations. The back protector incorporates lightweight, flexible, and ventilated Alpinestars Nucleon Plasma technology.
