The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 v2 Leather Vest is a fully autonomous active airbag system designed to operate without external motorcycle connections or sensors. Six integrated sensors—three accelerometers, including one triaxial accelerometer, and three gyroscopes, including one triaxial gyroscope—monitor riding conditions and provide crash detection performance, including when stopped. The system activates automatically through its magnetic zipper closure.

Constructed from cow leather with a softening process for comfort, the vest features ribbed leather elasticated side panels for comfort and expansion volume, along with perforated upper chest and shoulder panels. Its packable design allows storage in a backpack, saddle bag, top case, or pannier when not in use. A center zipper and internal magnetic snap buttons hold the chest bladder in position while riding or conceal it when the system is not being worn.

Storage includes two zippered hand pockets, two zippered chest pockets, a sunglasses channel on the right chest, and an inner concealed pocket. A waist loop provides a place to attach gloves or other items. The front LED display shows the system’s operational status, while its haptic alert confirms when the system is armed and warns when the battery is running low.

Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 connectivity with the Tech-Air App enables monitoring of operational and battery status, access to MyRide ride mapping, and software version checks and updates. The integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 40 hours of battery life and recharges in approximately 4 hours. The gas inflator housing, electronic wiring, and airbag are removable, and gas inflator canisters can be replaced by select Alpinestars dealers and certified Tech-Air Service Centers. The vest should be cleaned with a leather cleaner when needed.
