The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 v2 Canvas Vest is a fully autonomous active airbag system designed to operate without external motorcycle connections or sensors. Six integrated sensors—three accelerometers and three gyroscopes—monitor riding conditions and provide crash detection performance in a variety of dynamic situations, including when stopped. The system activates automatically through the magnetic zipper closure.

Its packable design allows convenient storage in a backpack, saddlebag, top case, or pannier when not in use. The outer chassis combines stretch nylon canvas with a ribbed bomber collar and elasticated side panels for comfort and expansion volume. A center zipper and internal magnetic snap buttons hold the chest bladder in position while riding and allow it to be folded back and concealed when not riding.

Functional storage includes two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets, a sunglasses channel in the right chest pocket, and a concealed inner pocket. A waist loop provides a place to attach gloves or other items. The discreet front LED display shows airbag operational status, while its haptic alert confirms when the system is armed and warns when the battery is running low.

The vest uses Alpinestars' compact Pro 2nd Generation Electronic Control Unit and connects to the Tech-Air App through Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0. The app enables riders to monitor operational and battery status, review ride maps through MyRide, and access system software updates. An integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 40 hours of battery life and recharges in approximately four hours. The airbag, electronic wiring, and gas inflator housing are removable, and the canvas vest is washable with the electronics removed.
