The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 v2 is a fully autonomous active airbag system designed to operate without external motorcycle connections or sensors. Six integrated sensors, including three accelerometers and three gyroscopes, monitor riding conditions to support crash detection during dynamic riding situations and while stopped. The system activates automatically through the magnetic zip closure.

Its packable design allows the vest to be stored in a backpack, saddle bag, top case, or pannier when not in use. The stretch nylon canvas outer chassis features a ribbed bomber collar and elasticated side panels for comfort and expansion volume. A center zipper with internal magnetic snap buttons helps secure the chest bladder while riding and fold it back when the vest is not in use.

Practical storage includes two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets, a sunglasses channel in the right chest pocket, and an inner concealed pocket. A waist loop provides a place to attach gloves or other items. The concealed front LED display shows operational status, uses reflective backing for improved visibility, and includes a haptic alert that confirms the system is armed and warns when the battery is low.

The Tech-Air 3 v2 incorporates Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation compact ECU and Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 connectivity to the Tech-Air App. The app allows riders to monitor system and battery status, review rides through MyRide, verify installed software, and access software updates. An integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 40 hours of battery life and takes approximately four hours to recharge. The canvas vest is washable after removing the electronics, while the gas inflator housing, wiring, and airbag are removable.
