The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 v2 Canvas Vest is a fully autonomous active airbag system designed to operate without external connections or sensors on the motorcycle. Six integrated sensors—three accelerometers, including one triaxial accelerometer, and three gyroscopes, including one triaxial gyroscope—monitor riding dynamics and provide crash detection performance even when the motorcycle is stopped. The airbag system activates automatically through the magnetic zipper closure.

Its packable design allows the vest to be stored in a backpack, saddlebag, top case, or pannier when not in use. The stretch nylon canvas outer chassis features a ribbed bomber collar and elasticated side panels for comfort and expansion volume. A center zipper and internal magnetic snap buttons hold the chest bladder in position while riding or fold it back and conceal it when the system is not being worn.

Practical storage includes two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets, a sunglasses channel on the right chest pocket, and an inner concealed pocket. A waist loop provides a place to attach gloves or other items. The discreet LED display on the front chest shows the airbag's operational status, while its reflective backing improves visibility. The display also provides haptic alerts to confirm the system is armed and warn when the battery is running low.

The vest incorporates Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation compact Electronic Control Unit and connects to the Tech-Air App through Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0. Riders can monitor operational and battery status, view ride maps through MyRide, check installed software, and access available software updates. An integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 40 hours of battery life with an approximately four-hour recharge time. The electronics, gas inflator housing, and airbag are removable, allowing the canvas vest to be washed with the electronics removed.
