The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 v2 Canvas Vest is a fully autonomous active airbag system designed to operate without external motorcycle connections or sensors. Six integrated sensors—three accelerometers and three gyroscopes—monitor riding conditions to provide crash detection performance in a variety of dynamic situations, including when stopped. The system activates automatically through its magnetic zip closure.

Its packable design allows the vest to be stored in a backpack, saddle bag, top case, or pannier when not in use. The stretch nylon canvas outer chassis features a ribbed bomber collar and elasticated side panels for comfort and expansion volume. A center zipper and internal magnetic snap buttons hold the chest bladder in position while riding and allow it to be folded back and concealed when not in use.

Functional storage includes two zippered hand pockets, two chest pockets, a sunglasses channel in the right chest pocket, and an inner concealed pocket. A waist loop provides a place to attach gloves or other items. The front LED display indicates operational status, uses reflective backing for improved visibility, and provides haptic alerts confirming that the system is armed or warning when the battery is low.

The Tech-Air 3 v2 incorporates Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation compact ECU and connects to the Tech-Air App through Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0. The app allows riders to monitor system and battery status, view ride maps through MyRide, check installed software, and access software updates. An integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 40 hours of battery life and recharges in approximately four hours. The canvas vest is washable when the electronics are removed.
