The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 Leather Vest is a fully autonomous active airbag system designed to operate without external motorcycle connections or sensors. Six integrated sensors, including accelerometers and gyroscopes, monitor riding conditions and provide crash monitoring performance in various situations, including when stopped. The system activates automatically through the magnetic zip closure.

Its packable design allows the vest to be stored in a backpack, saddle bag, top case, or pannier when not in use. The outer chassis uses cow leather with a softening process for comfort, while ribbed leather elasticated side panels provide comfort and expansion volume. Perforated upper chest and shoulder panels support airflow, and the center zipper works with internal magnetic snap buttons to hold the chest bladder in position while riding or conceal it when not in use.

Practical storage includes two zippered hand pockets, two zippered chest pockets, a sunglasses channel on the right chest, and an inner concealed pocket. A waist loop provides a convenient attachment point for gloves or other items. The front chest LED display shows operational status, uses reflective backing for improved visibility, and incorporates a haptic alert to confirm that the system is armed or indicate low battery status.

The Tech-Air 3 includes Alpinestars' Pro 2nd Generation compact ECU, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 connectivity, and compatibility with the Tech-Air App for monitoring system status, battery status, ride mapping through MyRide, and software updates. Its integrated certified lithium-ion battery provides up to 40 hours of battery life and requires approximately 4 hours to recharge. The gas inflator housing, electronic wiring, and airbag are removable, while canister replacement is available through select Alpinestars dealers and certified Tech-Air Service Centers.
