The Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 is a lightweight, autonomous airbag system designed for touring riders, urban commuters, and light off-road adventure riders. It can be worn over or under a motorcycle jacket, including compatible Alpinestars jackets and leather or textile jackets with sufficient room for airbag inflation.

Using the Tech-Air 5 Street crash detection algorithm and artificial intelligence technology, the system monitors riding conditions and assesses when to deploy the airbag during a crash or dangerous event, including lowside and highside incidents. Six integrated sensors—three accelerometers and three gyroscopes—support crash monitoring across dynamic street riding scenarios, including when stopped.

When a crash is detected, the protective airbag activates in milliseconds, depending on airbag size, and provides full upper-body coverage across the rider’s chest and back. An integrated back protector pocket can accommodate additional passive back protection. The front-chest LED display shows operational status, while the haptic alert confirms that the system is armed and warns when the battery is low.

Bluetooth connectivity with the Tech-Air App allows riders to monitor system and battery status and view a detailed ride map through MyRide. The Alpinestars crash detection algorithm was developed using more than 2 million kilometers of riding data and over 2,000 crashes.
