The Alpinestars Tech-Air® Off-Road System combines active airbag protection with an integrated Off-Road Protection Jacket for demanding trail, rally, enduro, and street riding. When inflated, the airbag provides coverage across the chest, back, shoulders, neck, and collarbones, while the jacket adds passive full back, limb, arm, and chest protection for enhanced roost protection against rocks, debris, and other trail obstacles.

This fully self-contained system uses an Electronic Control Unit with three accelerometers, including one triaxial accelerometer, and three gyroscopes, including one triaxial gyroscope, to monitor dynamic off-road riding scenarios. Three selectable Riding Modes—ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET—can be accessed through the front LED Display or the Tech-Air® App. The system is FIM Cross Country Rally Regulations homologated for race use and has an average inflation time of 52 milliseconds, depending on airbag size.

Dual gas inflators provide two separate airbag deployments, with one inflator activating the entire airbag system during a crash event. The integrated lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of use when fully charged and requires approximately 4 hours to recharge; approximately 1 hour of charging provides approximately 8 hours of riding use. Charging is handled through the USB-C port integrated into the LED Display.

The system automatically turns on when zipped up and deactivates when unzipped. Its removable ECU and airbag allow the Protection Jacket to be washed separately. A quick-release cover supports user gas inflator replacement where permitted by local regulations. The system is shipped with Shipping Mode enabled and must be switched off before first use.
